How has the Rosetta Stone helped historians to understand Egypt's past?

The Rosetta Stone was written in two languages, Egyptian and Greek, and in three scripts, among them Egyptian hieroglyphs, demotic, and Greek. Because of the different languages and scripts, people were able to decipher the hieroglyphs. Most of the things Egyptians wrote was in hieroglyphs, so being able to read them made us able to read historic Egyptian documents and inscriptions and such.
