The "wrongful deeds" that Dr. King is referring to are physical aggression. He did not want protesters to sink to the level of those enforcing the bigotry against them. He promoted peaceful protests as he believed that through peace one could still effect change and create a better example for those who were to come after them. He likened their force to "soul force".
