The Byzantine empire influenced early Roman culture in many ways. The first being that they all of the Slavs (Early Russians) to Christianity as their main religion.
They also took the Greek alphabet and converted it to their own language, meaning this helped develop their language. The russians soon also took on parts of the Byzantine empire into their own culture, like foods, music, art, etc.
