I am taking a new medication called amitriptyline and it is an Antidepressant. If it is an antidepressant then how is a side effect depression and sadness???

Because not all bodies respond to medication the same way. Some antidepressants might not work as well or your body might not respond to it as it should. Therefore this reaction could trigger an even greater feeling of sadness or depression or you could feel like they antidepressants aren't doing anything. If you have any comments or concerns I suggest you talk to your pharmacist or doctor. Also remember not all bodies might trigger the same side affects.
