[tex]x-5y=2[/tex]
Hence [tex]x=2+5y[/tex]   (Equation I)
[tex]9x+8=15[/tex]             (Equation II)
Substituting Equation I in Equation II
[tex]9(2+5y)+8=15[/tex]
[tex]18+45y+8=15[/tex]
[tex]26+45y=15[/tex]
[tex]45y=-11[/tex]
Hence [tex]y= - \frac{11}{45} [/tex]

Substituting this in Equation in I to get X

[tex]x-5(- \frac{11}{45} )=2[/tex]
[tex]x+ \frac{11}{9}=2 [/tex]
[tex]x= 2- \frac{11}{9} [/tex]
[tex]x= \frac{17}{9} [/tex]
