I believe it would be positive, since many script writers and directors have been able to throw in ironic references having to do with the media and public opinion. Media also made capturing the audiences attention slightly easier in some cases, by using the widespread opinions channeled through the current media, especially during the time of the film making process.
This probably won't help, so I suggest just doing a bit of research.
