first, multiply the x through the parenthesis
x(7x^2 - 8x - 7) = 7x^3 - 8x^2 - 7x
now multiply the -5 through the parenthesis
-5(7x^2 - 8x - 7) = -35x^2 + 40x + 35
now combine like terms
7x^3 - 43x^2 + 33x + 35
