The War Refugee Board had the task of saving European Jews. Founded by Ruzvelt, in 1994, to aid civilian victims of the Nazi and Axis powers. The reason for this Roosevelt initiative was the apparent genocide by the Nazis who was presented to the American public. This board cooperated with Jewish organizations, as well as with diplomats of neutral European countries and a resistance movement to save tens of thousands of Jews from Hungary more precisely from Budapest.
