I need help on factoring polynomials.

x^2- 2x - 24

In this question, we have to factor the given polynominal which is

[tex] f(x) = x^2 -2x-24 [/tex]

We need two factors of -24 whose sum is -2, and -6+4=-2

So we can write f(x) as

f(x) = (x-6)(x+4)

And that's the required factored form .
